A genuinely moving family drama that doesn't rely on manipulation to get its emotional beats across. The mother-son dynamic at the center of the story is written with real restraint. No unnecessary romantic subplot forced in to hit some commercial quota, which I appreciated. Runtime is a bit much — could have trimmed twenty minutes from the middle stretch without losing anything. Supporting cast, especially the grandfather character, brings a lot of warmth to scenes that could've felt heavy. Cinematography captures the village setting beautifully without ever feeling like tourism footage. This is the kind of film word-of-mouth should carry, not marketing.

A quiet, understated film that trusts its audience more than most recent releases have. No dramatic score cues telling you how to feel — the performances do that work instead. Some viewers will find the deliberate pace frustrating, and that's a fair criticism. The final act payoff justifies the patience it demands from you earlier on. Cinematography is restrained in the best way, letting scenes breathe without over-directing them. This won't be for everyone, but for the right audience it'll stick with you long after the credits.
